In 19 seasons in the NBA, Jason Kidd was one of the best point guards we’ve ever seen. The sure-fire Hall of Famer was a lethal force on both ends of the floor in his prime and even in his final seasons, he was able to help the Dallas Mavericks win a ring and the New York Knicks enjoy their best season in more than a decade. Now that he’s the coach of the Brooklyn Nets, Kidd doesn’t have many opportunities to get those competitive juices flowing on the court.
Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News tells us that in a recent practice, Kidd laced up the sneakers and had a “spirited exchange” by going head-to-head with Nets’ point guard Deron Williams. Perhaps it was just a way to see if Kidd still had it or maybe it was a way of teaching Williams a few things on the court in real-time.
Don’t let the tight suit fool you: Jason Kidd can still ball and still has those juices flowing.
During another disappointing and injury-riddled season for Deron Williams, Kidd stepped on the court and went head-to-head with the point guard in a spirited exchange at a recent practice, a source told the Daily News.
That’s one way to get through to the underachieving star: challenge him with Hall of Fame skills.
There are two ways of taking this story. One way is that it’s great Kidd is able to use those “Hall of Fame skills” to give Williams some elite knowledge of the game in a practice situation. That kind of learning can be invaluable and it may help Williams get his season back on track in a hurry. The other way of taking that is you have to be a little concerned that there was a “spirited exchange” between your 40-year old coach and a 29-year old franchise point guard who is still owed over $60 million through the 2015-16 season.
Granted, that’s due to Williams’ ankle troubles and there is little doubt he’d return to being an elite point guard worthy of the five-year, $98 million deal he signed with the Nets in 2012. But it can’t be an easy feeling to know your coach can challenge your franchise player and have it be described as “spirited.” Williams has struggled with his ankles and his game since coming to the Nets in a 2011 trade but did enjoy an All-Star season in 2011-12.

Game, set, match. A very pregnant Kim Kardashian looked triumphant as she left a Los Angeles courthouse on Friday, April 19, after the judge officially announced that her year-and-a-half divorce battle with ex Kris Humphries had come to an end.
“Yes, it’s done,” a source tells Us Weekly. “They realized there was no fraud and the judge urged Kris to settle. Finally it’s over!”
Kardashian, 32, and Humphries officially announced their split after just 72 days of marriage in October 2011, and have been in a bitter court battle ever since. While Kardashian sought a clean divorce from the NBA player, Humphries instead filed for an annulment, claiming that Kardashian had committed fraud when she said “I do.”
According to TMZ, Humphries, 28, dropped his demand for an annulment, and will not get a single penny from Kardashian, despite his previous request for $7 million from his estranged wife. Both parties will also pay for their own attorney’s fees, squashing reports that Kardashian might require Humphries to pony up for hers.
The Kourtney & Kim Take Miami star showed up on time for the proceedings Friday morning, and answered a few short questions from the judge, an eyewitness tells Us.
When asked if irreconcilable differences led to the breakdown of the marriage, Kardashian responded yes. She denied that counseling would have helped the marriage.
Save for the court’s final sign-off on the judgment — which will need to happen before June 19 — Kardashian and Humphries are now officially divorced, just in time for the July arrival of Kardashian’s baby with boyfriend Kanye West.
Humphries was not present for Friday’s hearing, despite court orders. He was also absent from an Apr. 12 settlement hearing that was meant to keep the case from going to trial.
“[Kris is] just wasting everyone’s time at this point … The judge is furious. So disrespectful,” a source told Us Weekly of Humphries’ previous absence. “Kim showed up pregnant!”
And there are other things that haven’t quite worked out in Humphries’ favor either. Earlier this month, the Brooklyn Nets player demanded that he have access to several emails his estranged wife had sent him from closed accounts. The judge denied his request on Apr. 15, just days after he was a no-show in court.
Luckily for Humphries, however, the judge has ruled his failure to appear in court “irrelevant” now that the case is settled. The athlete was previously set to be hit with fines for failing to show up to several court-ordered appearances.

Kris Humphries is still married to Kim Kardashian — despite the fact that she’s knocked up by his boss’s BFF, Kanye West.
It looks like Humphries either really likes to be Mr. Kim Kardashian or he’s out for revenge. According to Radar Online, the Nets star’s family is outraged that their family name is still tied to Hollywood’s most famous reality star.
An insider told the site that K. Hump. turned down a $10 million payoff from his estranged ex-wife because he truly believes that the 72-day marriage was a sham.
The insider told the site, “Kris’ family finds the entire matter really annoying because they’re tired of the negative attention and don’t want to be tied to Kim at all anymore,” the insider revealed.
“They just want it to be over.”
Another close family member is also allegedly feeling the heat from the Hump’s bad PR. The insider said that Kris’ sister Kaela Humphries isn’t too happy with her big bro. The source revealed that Kaela feels like his rep is ruining her new modeling career.
“It’s not completely damaging her career, but she does get turned down more than usual because a lot of the agencies are pro-Kim,” the insider told RadarOnline.
According to the source, it’s Kris’ need for revenge that is making him drag this out for so long (hmmm … not for an extra 15 minutes of fame?) The source revealed, “It’s gone on too long and it’s upsetting for the family to know that Kris is out for revenge,” the source said.
“The family doesn’t want to be connected to Kim or any of the Kardashians anymore, and they’re worried that Kris will get burned in the end.”
One thing that K. Hump. does have going for him: He’s herpes free! Unfortunately, Kris didn’t have the privilege of finding that out with the privacy of his family doctor. Nope, instead Kris took an STD test to prove that he didn’t give Kayla Goldberg herpes. According to TMZ the Hump got tested after Goldberg filed a legal claim that the NBA baller gave her the sexual transmitted disease when they hooked up (condomless) in Hollywood in 2010.
According to TMZ, Humphries doesn’t deny the sexual tryst but denied — and proved — that he is STD free by volunteering to take a blood test, which came back negative.
TMZ reports that Kris wants the lawsuit dismissed, but a judge has yet to make a ruling.
Kris Humphries is denying claims that he gave a woman herpes.
On Wednesday, Los Angeles woman Kayla Goldberg filed a lawsuit against the NBA player claiming she had unprotected sex with the athlete and a week later was diagnosed with herpes. According to the court documents obtained by TMZ, Goldberg is suing for sexual battery, alleging that Humphries knew he had herpes when they were intimate and didn’t tell her — and now she’s seeking unspecified damages.
The 27-year-old Brooklyn Nets forward is “100 percent sure” he didn’t give Goldberg herpes, reports Gossip Cop. Humphries’ rep told the website the lawsuit is “completely bogus,” and revealed that Goldberg’s attorney reached out to Kris’ lawyer last winter and demanded $24 million, noting that she wouldn’t “take less than $1 million,” or she’d go public with her allegations.
According to court papers, Goldberg claims she met Humphries at The Newsroom Cafe in Los Angeles on Aug. 31, 2010, and the two agreed to meet up later at the Trousdale Nightclub, before he invited her back to his hotel room at the Thompson Hotel. She alleges that the two had sex without a condom, and Humphries also performed oral sex on her. She claims the two had sex again the next morning and had a discussion about their romantic histories, with Humphries allegedly asking her how many sexual partners she had, and when she informed him, he replied, “That is good enough to marry.”
Humphries is currently in the middle of a long and drawn out divorce from reality TV star Kim Kardashian. The two were married for 72 days, when Kardashian filed for divorce on Oct. 31, 2011. Humphries is suing for an annulment, citing fraud, and a divorce trial is not expected to go forward until 2013.
