REPORT: Jose Calderon To Get a Shot At an NBA Championship! [KingpinTV.net]

jose

The Golden State Warriors will sign guard Jose Calderon after his buyout with the Los Angeles Lakers is complete, according to the San Jose Mercury News’ Anthony Slater. Calderon, 35, has mostly been out of the Lakers’ rotation this season. He will replace guard Briante Weber, who had signed two 10-day contracts with the Warriors. Golden State coach Steve Kerr let Weber know that the team was letting him go moments after its 112-95 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, Kerr told reporters. Briante Weber finished up the Warriors’ Saturday night game against the Nets and was then informed of his release. The Warriors are going elsewhere with that 15th roster spot.

That elsewhere is expected to be veteran guard Jose Calderon, according to team sources. Calderon must first officially come to terms on a buyout and release from the Lakers, which is expected to happen in the coming days. But his partnership with the Warriors is already in motion.

Calderon will be the Warriors’ third point guard; barring injury, he likely won’t play a non-garbage time minute in the playoffs. Evidently, though, they decided that they’d be more comfortable with the veteran running the offense than Weber if an injury were to hit them. Calderon is a poor defender, but he can move the ball and make open 3-pointers. He also rarely turns the ball over. In their system, the ability to make 3s and not get in the way might be perfect attributes for a deep bench player.

If Golden State was thinking long-term, it would have kept Weber, a far superior defender who will be an NBA regular as soon as he has a consistent outside shot. Given that Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston are hitting free agency this summer, it might have made sense to keep Weber around purely to have a young ballhandler on the roster for next season. Instead, he will either latch on with another NBA teamor return to the D-League, where he came one steal shy of recording a quadruple-double before joining the Warriors.

OPINION: The Time Is Now For The Clippers To Bury The Lakers! [KingpinTV.net]

clippers

It has seemed that for an eternity, The LA Lakers have owned the city of Angels. The 16 championships. The number of legends that played for the storied franchise such as Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Magic Johnson, Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Gail Goodrich, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar….Well you get the picture.

Only the Boston Celtics have raised more. The Lakers, however have entered an unfamiliar territory that they are generally not accustomed to: Rebuilding

After the summer of 2013 free agency, Dwight Howard left to join the Houston Rockets, leaving the Lakers with two past their prime superstars in Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash. Nash is injury prone at this stage of his career. Kobe Bryant suffered a devastating Achilles injury and may not return to form

The other NBA team in Los Angeles meanwhile is experiencing a renaissance. After years of being one of the most laughing stocks in sports, things have changed. In case you’re wondering the name of the other basketball franchise in Los Angeles is known as the LA Clippers.

The clippers own arguably the best point guard in the NBA (Chris Paul), A coach with a Larry O’Brien championship (Doc Rivers) an ultra athletic front court (Deandre Jordan, Blake Griffin) and a supporting cast of role players and long range shooters. The time is now for the Clippers to take centre stage

Doc Rivers recently sent a message that there is a “new” team in town. He made an executive decision to cover up the Lakers’ championship banners and retired jersey numbers at Staples during a recent preseason game replacing them with giant posters of players Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, Jamal Crawford, Matt Barnes, Jared Dudley and J.J. Redick which raised the ire of one of the newer Lakers, shooting guard Nick Young

“He can do that?” Young said “For real? That’s disrespectful. We got to talk to Doc. He can’t have that. We got to do something about that.”

“That’s a lot of pull y’all are giving Doc,” Young said, somewhat facetiously. “I think he shouldn’t come in and have so much pull like that. He’s got to earn his keep.”

It’s quite obvious that the Lakers are bleeding in the Pacific Ocean and the Clippers are the Great white Shark who smell blood in the water and are going after their prey. The Lakers as assembled have no shot of winning a championship. They may not even make the playoffs.  The Clippers will be in the playoffs, it’s just a matter of what seed.

Now is the perfect time to go for the kill. The Clippers should use this and every opportunity going forward to raise their profile and brand in L.A. or even go as for as burying the Lakers into the proverbial corner that they (The Clippers) once existed in.

With the lakeshow’s depleted roster, shaky management and diminishing prestige the time is now for the Clippers……The only thing the Lakers have going forward is cap space.

Attack with no mercy.

NEWS: Javaris Crittenton Officially Indicted On Murder Charges! [KingpinTV*net]

From humble beginnings as a child in Atlanta Georgia, to starring at Georgia Tech & making it to the NBA, Javaris Crittenton seemed destined to make it big. Things have changed for the former Georgia State “Mr Basketball” and member of “Future Business Leaders of America”

Crittenton was indicted on murder charges along with his cousin in a case officials call a gang-related shooting that took place Atlanta in 2011.

No trial date has been set.

Crittenton, 25, and Douglas Gamble heard of 12-count indictment in Atlanta’s Fulton County District Court. Officers allege Crittenton fired a gun that killed a mother of two, Julian Jones, who was walking in a group of people. Officials suspect the incident was retaliatory, citing Crittenton as the victim of a robbery during which he had $50,000 of jewelry stolen.

Crittenton’s last stint in the NBA was with the Charlotte Bobcats. He was drafted in the first round of the 2007 draft by the Los Angeles Lakers and played for the Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards.

He is well known for a Christmas Eve 2009 incident in which he and teammate Gilbert Arenas drew guns on each other in the Wizards’ locker room during an argument over gambling debts

NEWS: Eight People Injured In Shooting Following Oklahoma City Thunder’s NBA Game! [TekniqueTheKingpin*com]

Eight people were shot last night in Oklahoma City about 10 minutes after the Thunder beat the Los Angeles Lakers at Chesapeake Energy Arena to advance in the National Basketball Association playoffs.

All the victims were hospitalized and one remains in critical condition, Oklahoma City Police Department Captain Dexter Nelson said in a telephone interview. A pregnant woman was also treated for blunt trauma after the incident, which occurred in the Bricktown district of Oklahoma City, a club and restaurant area located a few blocks east of the arena, he said.

Shortly after the Thunder-Lakers game a large crowd of people were moving toward parking lots and the Bricktown area, and there was some type of an altercation or scuffle between some people in the crowd,  Nelson said. “At least one subject pulled out a weapon and fired into the crowd.”

The Thunder beat the Lakers 106-90 to close the best-of- seven second-round NBA postseason series in five games. Nelson said police were unsure if the people involved in the incident had attended the game or if the altercation was basketball related.

The shooting occurred around 11:35 p.m. central time, Nelson said. The game ended around 11:22 p.m.

Police don’t have a suspect in custody as of this morning, Nelson said.

Information regarding the ages and genders of the victims haven’t been disclosed, Nelson said. Aside from the one victim in critical condition, all others were treated for non-life- threatening injuries.
