UPDATE: NBA Investigates Confrontation Between Kendrick Perkins & Zach Randolph! [KingpinTV*net]

As is the NBA’s standard procedure, the league is investigating Wednesday night’s confrontation between Thunder center Kendrick Perkins and Memphis power forward Zach Randolph at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Both players were ejected with 2:05 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Grizzlies’ 107-97 victory and had an altercation in a hallway near the Thunder locker room after leaving the court. The players were separated by Oklahoma City police officers patrolling the area.

Security officials later said there was no altercation and there would be no investigation, but the league office confirmed Thursday it was looking into the incident to potentially levy fines and/or suspensions for both players.

Afterward in the locker room, Randolph downplayed what transpired. “It wasn’t nothin’,” he said.

Asked what was said on the court, Randolph refused to share details.

The game was nationally televised on ESPN and a courtside microphone picked up what was said.

Perkins: “I’ll meet you by the bus.”

Randolph: “I’ll beat your (expletive).”

Asked Thursday what led to the incident, Perkins said: “Just too much talking. I wasn’t frustrated, but at the same time I have a problem with losing. … You do have to see this team three more times and we can’t be showing no signs of weakness.”

NEWS: Kendrick Perkins and Zach Randolph In Altercation? [KingpinTV*net]

According to CBS Sports, as the Grizzlies knocked off the defending Western Champs Thunder Wednesday night, there was the usual amount of dislike between the two teams. Specifically, there’s Kendrick Perkins who doesn’t like anybody except his momma, and Zach Randolph, whose not a lighthearted fellow either.

As Powerman 5000 once said, this is what it’s like when worlds collide. Heads up, explicit language in this video as Zach Randolph makes Perkins a special kind of promise after the first free throw.

An unconfirmed rumor was circulating that there was a fight between the two players, which local police offered no comment in regards to the situation. More to come

NEWS: Eight People Injured In Shooting Following Oklahoma City Thunder’s NBA Game! [TekniqueTheKingpin*com]

Eight people were shot last night in Oklahoma City about 10 minutes after the Thunder beat the Los Angeles Lakers at Chesapeake Energy Arena to advance in the National Basketball Association playoffs.

All the victims were hospitalized and one remains in critical condition, Oklahoma City Police Department Captain Dexter Nelson said in a telephone interview. A pregnant woman was also treated for blunt trauma after the incident, which occurred in the Bricktown district of Oklahoma City, a club and restaurant area located a few blocks east of the arena, he said.

Shortly after the Thunder-Lakers game a large crowd of people were moving toward parking lots and the Bricktown area, and there was some type of an altercation or scuffle between some people in the crowd,  Nelson said. “At least one subject pulled out a weapon and fired into the crowd.”

The Thunder beat the Lakers 106-90 to close the best-of- seven second-round NBA postseason series in five games. Nelson said police were unsure if the people involved in the incident had attended the game or if the altercation was basketball related.

The shooting occurred around 11:35 p.m. central time, Nelson said. The game ended around 11:22 p.m.

Police don’t have a suspect in custody as of this morning, Nelson said.

Information regarding the ages and genders of the victims haven’t been disclosed, Nelson said. Aside from the one victim in critical condition, all others were treated for non-life- threatening injuries.
